Webdesk, TNI New Delhi, 02nd March, 2016: Ibex Expeditions launches its journey to the 7th continent led by Mandip Singh Soin, assisted by team Ibex Expeditions. The journey began on the 22nd of February 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, flying in a chartered flight to Ushuaia to board the ship belonging to Quark, a leader in Antarctica journeys who Ibex has selected and is now associated with. This journey of 10 nights will cross the historic Drake Passage and weaves along the Antarctica peninsula, going up close to Penguins, Whales and Icebergs. In 1989, Mandip participated in an international UN supported environmental expedition to the Arctic at 80 degrees North studying the depleting ozone hole and environmental impacts. This project was created by Polar Explorer Robert Swan. 26 years later, in 2015, Mandip’s son Himraj, participated in an environmental initiative titled 2041 with Robert Swan. This is aimed at saving the Antarctica from mining and exploitation when the treaty is renegotiated in the year 2041. The prime motivation is to not only enjoy a spectacular part of our Planet but also to create an advocacy in our civil society that can lend support to this cause and help retain Antarctica as a pristine spot on Planet Earth. Ibex Expeditions is committed to sustainable travel and protecting endangered areas. In line with their support for world environment, Mandip harks back to the 3rd century Vedic saying “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which essentially implies “The Planet is my home”.
